Visiting Assitant Professor - University of Iowa

August 2018 - May 2019

As a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Cinematic Arts, my responsibilities included designing and teaching the department’s capstone seminar and two other advanced-level undergraduate courses. My background in both film and media studies informed my pedagogy, as I regularly presented students with texts and theoretical approaches that drew from both disciplines. Duties also included designing and administering introductory lectures on film analysis to a group of over sixty students.

Graduate Instructor - University of Iowa

August 2011 - August 2017

Designed and taught fourteen courses as a Film Studies graduate student at the University of Iowa. These courses included two capstone seminars that emphasize theoretical problems that span different mediums and national contexts. Also taught in areas related to sound studies, film theory, and popular genres.

AmeriCorps VISTA

August 2008 - July 2009

Volunteered as a statewide media coordinator for Maine's AmeriCorps VISTA initiative. A specific focus on spotlighting low income and minority students finding college success from rural Maine. Developed a documentary on the VISTA program and its success stories for future marketing.
